Historic Savage Mill is just five miles from Elkridge, Maryland. Located on the Patapsco River, Elkridge was once a bustling port. Miles of hiking and horseback trails surround today's river in a state park.

In 1967, Jim Rouse developed Columbia, Howard County's largest city, as a "garden for growing people" who were "creative, tolerant, and caring." With modern amenities like The Mall in Columbia and Merriweather Post Pavilion, Columbia retains the feel of a small town. Maple Lawn has a unique mix of boutiques, offices, homes, and restaurants.

Howard County's rolling hills provide views of the county's countryside. Western Howard County is home to many farms and the Howard County Fairgrounds, which hosts its annual fair at the end of summer.
